Wolters Kluwer to Share RegTech Expertise at JWG Capital Markets Conference
Wolters Kluwer will be sharing its expertise on RegTech today at the JWG Capital Markets Conference. The company, which is sponsoring the event in London, will have its experts on hand to answer questions about how RegTech can harness the use of information technology in the context of Finance, Risk and Reporting.
Richard Bennett, vice president and head of Regulatory Reporting, EMEA, for Wolters Kluwer’s Finance, Risk & Reporting business, will speak about how banks are ensuring synergies between RegTech and regulatory reporting. Among other areas up for discussion, Bennett will be exploring what a good infrastructure fit for AnaCredit, IFRS 9, EMIR Article 9, SFTR and MiFID II in 2017 looks like.
The event will welcome 300 senior-level executives from more than 50 financial institutions who will discuss the practicalities of adopting RegTech systems. Speakers include senior representatives from the European Central Bank, the European Commission, the Bank of England, Barclays, BNY Mellon, Credit Suisse and Goldman Sachs.
RegTech systems are being increasingly embraced by financial institutions, as noted in a recent white paper by Wolters Kluwer, ultimately aiding the automation of more mundane financial risk and reporting compliance tasks and reducing risks. Such systems effectively allow banks’ compliance functions to make more informed risk choices.
Late last year Wolters Kluwer took part in a TechSprint (sometimes referred to as a “hackathon”) organized by the U.K.’s Financial Conduct Authority (FCA). The event, “Unlocking Regulatory Reporting,” was designed to improve the interface between the regulator and regulated firms, allowing participating firms to discuss the practical uses of RegTech. Notably, the finance, risk and reporting technology vendor acted as the Regulatory Reporting Subject Matter Expert for the event.
