lemon.markets and Pleo Partner to Launch ‘Pleo Investment Account’
Pleo, one of Europe’s leading spend management platforms, has partnered with lemon.markets to launch ‘Pleo Investment Account’, an embedded treasury solution for German business customers. lemon.markets’ brokerage and custody infrastructure enables Pleo users to invest surplus cash in low-risk Money Market Funds (MMFs) and earn yield with next-day liquidity, directly within Pleo’s interface.
Tapping into Europe’s €2 Trillion Idle Cash Opportunity
Europe is home to 26 million small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs), representing 99% of all businesses. These companies hold more than €2 trillion in deposits, much of which remains idle in accounts generating little to no return, representing a massive untapped opportunity for businesses to reinvest in their growth.
‘Pleo Investment Account’ addresses this by enabling its business customers to allocate surplus cash into a low-risk, liquid investment option via Money Market Funds (MMFs). The solution is embedded in Pleo’s user experience, allowing customers to invest and earn yield seamlessly.
To set up an account, customers are onboarded through a simple digital flow within the Pleo App. Once completed, they can easily allocate cash, which is automatically invested in MMFs. Funds can be accessed the next day, providing a cash-account-like experience with the benefit of receiving yield.
Embedding Treasury Where Businesses Already Work
The process is powered by lemon.markets’ API-first infrastructure, covering the entire investment value chain – from onboarding and execution to custody, reporting, and tax compliance. Pleo retains control of the customer experience and relationship, with minimal integration effort required.
“With ‘Pleo Investment Account’, we’re enabling our customers to put their idle cash to work—earning yield without interrupting their existing workflows. Thanks to lemon.markets’ infrastructure, we’ve been able to embed this seamlessly into our platform, with minimal effort and no extra complexity for our customers,” explains Amit Kahana, VP of Credit and Treasury at Pleo.
“The ‘Pleo Investment Account’ is a great example of how we can unlock new investment opportunities for businesses by embedding treasury directly into the tools they already use,” says Max Linden, Founder and CEO of lemon.markets. “Together with Pleo, we’ve built a seamless customer experience that allows businesses to easily put idle cash to work and start earning yield. We are proud to partner with leading Fintechs like Pleo as we scale.”
Pleo is the next B2B partner after Holvi to integrate lemon.markets’ brokerage and custody infrastructure – highlighting the growing demand of FinTechs for embedded treasury solutions that help businesses put available funds to work. lemon.markets addresses this need by delivering a solution that’s fully integrated, scalable and quick to deploy.
