IG Launches 24/5 Trading on US Stocks

Investing and trading platform IG has launched 24/5 trading on 110 of the most popular US stocks, giving UK investors the ability to react to market-moving news when it happens and trade at their own convenience.

From 1am Monday through to 10pm Friday, customers can now trade major names such as Apple, Tesla and NVIDIA. Until now, IG clients could access US stocks for up to 16 hours a day (9am to 1am).

With round-the-clock coverage through the working week, UK investors are now better placed to manage positions ahead of the US market open, respond to earnings announcements and economic data, and stay agile in fast-moving markets. 24/5 stocks will be available for traditional investing as well as leveraged trading.

Michael Healy, UK Managing Director at IG, said: “We want to give our UK customers the best possible access to global markets so that they can invest and trade easily at their own convenience. With round-the-clock trading during the week, UK investors now have more of a level playing field with their US peers when it comes to the world’s most traded stocks.

“The new generation of investors expect access, flexibility and, above all, convenience –  we’ll continue expanding our offering to meet this need. We hope that, in time, UK equities will follow the US example and become available outside regular market hours, giving UK investors the same opportunities on home turf.”

The addition of 24/5 US stock trading is the latest in a series of product launches from IG, with the platform recently adding crypto to its offering, while launching commission-free stock investing earlier this year.
