Semcon in new project to futureproof power supply for trains
A new contract means that Semcon will be futureproofing the energy plants powering Swedish rail services. The contract covers a total of around 200 plants ensuring that trains can operate smoothly and safely. This project is an example of Semcon’s strategic focus on the rail industry.
With this new contract, Semcon is expanding its cooperation with the Swedish Transport Administration (Trafikverket). The assignment involves management of administration data for both high voltage and low voltage electricity at the power plants all over Sweden for which the Swedish Transport Administration holds responsibility.
“In the long run, our job is to make sure that trains can operate smoothly and safely. The aim of the project is to maintain and further reinforce Swedish Transport Administration plants in terms of both personal safety and delivery capacity,” says Jörgen Ohlsson, Team Manager at Semcon.
Access to sustainable, safe and secure energy is fundamental for society as a whole. Plant documentation for transformer stations, junction boxes and plants of other kinds, for example, is crucial as we head towards a more efficient and reliable power grid.
“We are pleased and proud to have been entrusted with this task. Our expertise and innovative thinking demonstrate time and time again that we are able to deliver top-quality solutions that benefit society,” says Markus Granlund, CEO at Semcon.
Semcon has been working with the Swedish Transport Administration on a number of different projects since 2014. This new project extends over one year and could potentially be extended by a further three years.
