National Inclusion Week®: Ecommpay Celebrates Success of Inclusivity Programme

This National Inclusion Week® (15th-21st September,) Ecommpay, the inclusive global payments platform, is celebrating the first anniversary of its dedicated programme focused on providing merchants with critical support to improve their own accessibility. Launched in September 2024, Ecommpay for Good is not only designed to empower merchants to create the most inclusive e-commerce presence; it also aims to deliver an accessible, sustainable and inclusive payment experience for customers with the vision to achieve ultimate financial inclusivity.

In the 12 months since its official launch, Ecommpay for Good has achieved several successful initiatives including:

  • Collaborating with the Digital Accessibility Centre to  launch a Guide to Digital Accessibility, empowering merchants to improve their digital presence
  • A rebrand of the website with accessible layouts, including a dark mode on the merchant dashboard to be more beneficial to users with visual impairments
  • Partnering with disability inclusion champion, Cressida Stephenson, CEO and founder of EdenChase Associates. This included the the successful roll-out of a mandatory Neurodiversity Training Programme for employees, focusing on building a neuro-inclusive culture
  • Joining the Disability Confident Scheme; taking action to improve how the business recruits, retains and develops the needs of disabled people
  • Raising awareness for Purple Tuesday and highlighting the need for businesses to become disability inclusive
  • Sharing expert advice at industry events, including speaking on the “Meet Magento Accessibility Panel” and discussing accessibility insights with Project Nemo
  • Partnering with the European Women in Payments Network (EWPN,) a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to building a community for women in cards, FinTech and payments across Europe
  • Working with the Royal National Institute of Blind People (RNIB) to achieve the ‘Visibly Better Employee Standard’

“We are extremely proud of our achievements so far as part of the Ecommpay for Good programme”, said Miranda McLean, Chief Marketing Officer at Ecommpay. “And National Inclusion Week® is the perfect time to mark this success. Inclusivity ‘by default’ is the ethos across all areas of Ecommpay and is built into everything we do. Inclusion isn’t an afterthought – it is at the core of all our products, training and recruitment. We believe this makes Ecommpay totally aligned to this year’s National Inclusion Week theme – ‘Now Is The Time’.”

Founded by Inclusive Employers in 2013, National Inclusion Week® (NIW) is a yearly event that takes place every September dedicated to celebrating inclusion and taking action to build inclusive workplaces. It offers an opportunity to spark conversations and inspire thinking about inclusion across all organisations. It serves as a platform for discussion, generating ideas, or launching new initiatives.

“Now into our second year of Ecommpay for Good we are establishing our next set of goals to ensure the importance of inclusivity is never lost” added Miranda McLean. “As a business we thrive to continue to adapt with new regulations and will expand our strategy to help achieve the final goal of ultimate financial inclusivity.”
