myPOS Enables Tap to Pay on iPhone in Italy
UK-based payments company myPOS has enabled Tap to Pay on iPhone for businesses in Italy. With Tap to Pay on iPhone and the myPOS Glass app, merchants can seamlessly and securely accept in-person contactless payments, including contactless credit and debit cards, Apple Pay, and other digital wallets, using only an iPhone and the myPOS Glass iOS app. No additional hardware or payment terminal is needed.
“We know from experience that Italian merchants are among the most innovative, so we are very excited to offer Tap to Pay on iPhone with the myPOS Glass app. This initiative will give SMEs a chance to respond to the demands of consumers, who appreciate the convenience of contactless cards and digital wallets to make secure purchases wherever they shop,” said Massimo Terreni, myPOS Italy Country Manager.
myPOS clients with compatible phones – iPhone XS or later running the latest version of iOS – can accept contactless payments by downloading and opening the myPOS Glass app, and when a customer makes a purchase, the merchant simply presents their iPhone to the customer. The customer needs only to tap a contactless payment method like a contactless debit or credit card, Apple Pay, or another digital wallet to complete the transaction.
Italian business owners seem to be looking forward to the new payment acceptance solution. Pietro Spadafora, CEO of Happy Yò! Yogurterie, said: “We are excited about the introduction of the myPOS Tap To Pay service at Happy Yò!. With this innovative payment acceptance solution on the iPhone, our customers can now pay in a quick and convenient way. It is secure and private and makes the shopping experience even more enjoyable. We look forward to letting customers experience Tap to Pay on iPhone!”
Merchants new to the myPOS platform can start using Tap to Pay on iPhone with myPOS Glass after opening a myPOS account and going through online verification. What’s more, by becoming a myPOS client, they will benefit from a free merchant account, a free business card and immediate deposits of all accepted payments at no extra cost.
Apple’s Tap to Pay on iPhone technology uses the built-in features of iPhone to keep the data private and secure – both for the business and for the customer. When a payment is processed, Apple doesn’t store card numbers or transaction information on the device or on Apple servers.
