Mollie Ready for AI Payments Before OpenAI Launches in Europe

Mollie has become one of the first European payment providers to build a fully functional payment integration with ChatGPT. During a hackathon in Lisbon, the product and engineering team demonstrated a complete purchase through an AI assistant, from product discovery to payment using Apple Pay.

The breakthrough lies in the successful development of a delegated payments API, making Mollie’s infrastructure compatible with OpenAI’s Agentic Commerce Protocol (ACP). While OpenAI has not yet launched this protocol in Europe, Mollie’s systems are now ready to help European businesses accept payments through ChatGPT from day one.

Prepared for new sales channels

Our infrastructure is ready, which means they can focus on their business, knowing we’ll be prepared to help them sell through AI from day one.” With over 250,000 customers, from startups to large enterprises, Mollie is strategically positioning itself for what may be the next major shift in e-commerce. The company is also actively collaborating with other platforms on the development of the competing Agent Payments Protocol.

One integration for multiple protocols

Mollie’s long-term vision is to give businesses access to different AI commerce protocols through a single integration. This means businesses won’t need to choose between different platforms, but can continue building on their existing Mollie integration.
