Modulr Partners With Conferma to Modernise and Accelerate Travel and Hotel Payments

Conferma, the global leader in virtual payment technology for business travel, has announced a new partnership with Modulr, the embedded payments platform and principal issuing member of Visa and Mastercard. The integration makes Modulr a fully connected issuer within the Conferma platform — giving travel management companies (TMCs), online travel agencies (OTAs) and corporate travel programmes a modern, API-powered way to issue and manage virtual cards across the travel ecosystem.

This collaboration brings together the strengths of both organisations. Modulr brings secure, real-time virtual payment capabilities to travel businesses — including instant hotel payments that simplify reconciliation, reduce operational cost, and enhance the traveller experience. Travel bookings can now be funded, issued and paid for in seconds, with no need to pre-fund over weekends or hold excess balances.

“We’re pleased to welcome Modulr to the Conferma ecosystem,” said Dave Wood, Chief Operations Officer at Conferma. “For our travel clients, this integration means faster onboarding, flexible funding, and a modern infrastructure that keeps pace with how the industry operates today.”

Solving Longstanding Challenges in B2B Travel Payments

For years, B2B travel payments have been held back by fragmented solutions, manual processes and inefficient cash flow management. Travel businesses frequently need to pre-fund cards, carry additional weekend balances and reconcile supplier payments manually — turning payments into a blocker rather than an enabler of growth.

The Conferma–Modulr integration directly addresses these challenges by combining virtual card flexibility with direct issuer connectivity. Companies can issue Modulr Visa and Mastercard virtual cards instantly from within Conferma’s platform — and through its connected ecosystem of:

  • GDSs (Amadeus, Sabre, Travelport)
  • Content aggregators (e.g., DerbySoft)
  • Workflow automation platforms (e.g., Groundspan)

This enables 24/7 payments that align with real-world booking patterns

Built for the Travel Industry

Modulr’s real-time virtual card payments infrastructure now powers travel spend across hotels, airfares, and other in-program categories — all from within Conferma’s trusted network.

The combined solution supports:

  • Enhanced spend controls and cash flow visibility
  • Reduced operational overhead for finance and ops teams
  • A smoother experience for travellers and suppliers alike
  • Real-time reconciliation and centralised reporting

“This partnership gives travel businesses direct access to a payments solution designed for speed, liquidity control and operational efficiency,” said Melek Pirgon, Chief Product Officer at Modulr. “By combining our embedded payments capability with Conferma’s global reach, we can enable a step change in how travel payments are managed.”

What This Means for the Travel Ecosystem

• For TMCs: a modern, API-led issuer that slots into existing workflows with no disruption
• For corporates: greater choice in virtual card issuing, supporting cost control and compliance
• For suppliers (including hotels): faster payment settlement and reduced reconciliation effort
• For the industry: issuer diversity that supports innovation, scale and modern travel operations
