G+D Wins Three Honours at the Juniper Research Future Digital Awards
Giesecke+Devrient (G+D) has been recognised with three awards at the prestigious Juniper Research Future Digital Awards 2025. G+D Netcetera, the financial software specialist of the G+D Group, won the top honour, a Platinum Award, for its new BIN Attack Score solution. The G+D products Convego Card Designer and the Convego Issuance Kiosk each won a Gold Award.
The awards highlight innovations that tackle critical challenges in the global payments sector. While financial institutions face rising fraud rates and stricter regulatory requirements, customers also expect seamless and personalised payment experiences. The solutions from G+D honoured by Juniper Research provide answers to both needs: they increase security in digital payments while also optimising the user experience. The independent jury particularly highlighted the practical applicability and demonstrable benefits of the submitted innovations.
Head Judge Nick Maynard, VP of Fintech Market Research at Juniper Research, commented on the wins: “While all three of G+D’s award wins at our highly competitive Future Digital Awards are in different categories, they all reflect G+D’s priorities – focusing on creating innovative solutions that push the envelope for payments companies. By addressing fraud challenges, improving access to self-service options, and enhancing personalisation, G+D successfully addresses key challenges across the ecosystem, making choosing its solutions as winners an easy decision.”
Fraud prevention addresses growing market needs.
The BIN attack detection and prevention solution from G+D Netcetera received the highest distinction with Platinum and was awarded as the most significant innovation in the Fraud Prevention category. In BIN (Bank Identification Number) attacks, criminals automatically test card data. Industry estimates suggest fraudsters can identify up to 4,800 valid card details per day using this method. Having a 24/7 real-time detection and prevention system, which prevents the validation of card data in the initial phase, helps reduce the direct financial losses and grow operational costs. Its relevance is shown by current fraud figures: Statista states that card fraud caused global losses of around USD 36 billion.
The solution is integrated into the 3-D Secure Issuer Service, the Access Control Server (ACS), which is used by over 1,000 banks and issuers worldwide. Preventive detection eliminates costly card blocking and re-issuance.
AI technology enables compliant card personalisation
Convego Card Designer, awarded Gold in the “AI in Banking Innovation” category, uses generative AI. An AI system reviews customer-created card designs for compliance with regulatory and bank-specific requirements. The solution filters inadmissible content in real time, detects possible copyright infringements, and generates the created designs. It thus combines regulatory requirements in the financial sector with growing customer demand for convenience and personalised card designs.
Self-service revolutionises physical card issuance
The Convego Issuance Kiosk received a Gold Award in the “Modern Card Issuing Platforms” category. It enables the issuance of fully personalised payment cards within minutes via self-service – for new issuance, replacement, or account opening. The solution responds to increasing branch closures, enables banks and fintechs to maintain a physical presence, and addresses changing customer expectations. The kiosk can be installed in branches or at high-traffic locations such as shopping centers or airports and offers onboarding functions for customer registration. With this, it enables card issuance independent of branch opening hours or locations.
Awards in the context of new compliance requirements
The awards come amid significant regulatory developments in European payments. Verification of Payee (VoP) will become mandatory in 2025, while PSD3 will bring expanded requirements for fraud prevention. These developments underscore the importance of the award-winning solutions: the BIN Attack Score directly addresses the stricter requirements for fraud detection, while the Convego Card Designer demonstrates how AI technology can be applied in a compliant manner in the regulated financial sector. The Convego Issuance Kiosk offers banks a solution to maintain customer proximity despite increasing branch closures.
