Edenred Payment Solutions Supports Hnry’s UK Expansion to Empower Sole Traders
Edenred Payment Solutions has announced a new partnership with Hnry the, all-in-one tax automation and accounting service for sole traders, to provide the regulated payments platform underpinning its UK launch.
Following success in New Zealand and Australia, Hnry is now live in the UK. The partnership sees EPS providing a suite of B2B BaaS capabilities to support Hnry’s tax and payments automation platform as it brings a much-needed solution to sole traders navigating business admin, expenses and tax.
HMRC’s ‘Making Tax Digital’ strategy:
With the government’s plans to have its “Making Tax Digital” plans go live in April of 2026, sole traders are actively looking for the best and most efficient way to manage their taxes.
As of 2025, there are nearly 2.9 million sole proprietorships across the UK, making them the most common business structure in the country. Hnry provides freelancers, contractors, and other sole traders with a dedicated account, automatically deducting and paying taxes to HMRC on their behalf, so they can focus on what they do best.
With Hnry, sole traders benefit from automated tax calculations and payments through the Hnry Account, removing the need for traditional accountants, and manual processes. Additionally, entrepreneurs gain access to the tools they need to manage finances specific to the business.
To enable this functionality, Edenred Payment Solutions is providing Hnry with:
-
Regulatory cover as an FCA-authorised e-money institution
-
E-money accounts with sort code and account number
-
Virtual Mastercard® cards enabled for Apple Pay and Google Pay
-
Access to Faster Payments, BACS and CHAPS
-
Payment processing and fraud monitoring
-
Real-time notifications
-
Confirmation of Payee (CoP)
-
BIN sponsorship
Edenred Payment Solutions was chosen for its regulatory expertise, technical capability and market knowledge. The Hnry team wanted a partner with the licensing and agility to get to market quickly, but also one that understands the nuances of launching in a highly regulated environment.
James Fuller, CEO and Co-founder at Hnry, commented: “We’re on a mission to make self-employment simple, affordable, and accessible. Today our customers in New Zealand and Australia spend 70% less time and 75% less money on tax and financial admin than the average sole trader, and we’re incredibly excited to bring our product to the UK and help solve that same problem for British entrepreneurs.
Edenred Payment Solutions has played a pivotal role in bringing our service to market, providing a suite of payments products with the technical and regulatory expertise we need to launch our platform and support sole traders from day one.”
Rehana Mitha, Managing Director at Edenred Payment Solutions, added:“Hnry is solving a real pain point for sole traders, and we’re proud to be their payments partner as they enter the UK market. From regulatory cover to flexible payment capabilities, our platform is designed to help forward-thinking fintechs launch and grow with confidence. Hnry is a fantastic example of that in action.”
A long-term partner for growth
This marks Edenred Payment Solutions’ latest partnership with an international fintech entering the UK. Edenred Payment Solutions already supports a growing portfolio of fintechs and corporate clients with embedded finance solutions, helping them launch quickly and scale confidently.
Hnry is set to become a major player in the UK’s evolving self-employed economy with Edenred Payment Solutions powering the payment capabilities behind the scenes.
