OpenWrks launches Money Coaching application to encourage positive changes in financial behaviour

OpenWrks launched their new financial wellbeing product Money Coaching in partnership with Tully, the world’s first Digital Debt Advisor. The initial launch follows a successful beta as part of the Nationwide’s Open Banking for Good programme, where a closed user group of customers tested the solution.

Money Coaching combines behavioural science and game design principles to help people create specific and realistic goals that could be anything from saving for a holiday to paying off a credit card. The use of Open Banking data provides Money Coaching with a better understanding of their customers’ financial habits and creates personalised challenges based on the areas where there is room to make savings, such as retail, groceries and eating out. OpenWrks ‘Intelligent Challenges AI’ identifies and curates personal challenges derived from real time payment information. Once a challenge is complete, customers can then add the money saved to an online payment account creating a savings pot to go towards their longer term goals.

The behavioural psychology framework that underpins the Money Coaching application encourages positive changes in financial behaviour. Money Coaching Product Manager, Jessica Salisbury whose background is in Cognitive Neuroscience and Innovation said “Goals focus behaviour, create purpose and they give real meaning to progress. If we set goals explicitly, we’re more able to monitor our behaviours and make sure they’re contributing to our overall aims”.

On the launch of the new service Steve Bradford, Co-Founder and CCO at OpenWrks added, “After over a year in development, we are delighted to announce the availability of Money Coaching. We are going live with Tully today and will be announcing two significant Retail Banking partners early in the New Year who are already working on implementing the solution into their digital customer journeys. There are a lot of apps out there which help people track their spending, but not enough is being done to help people understand how to change their spending behaviour and support them through this change. That’s where Money Coaching provides real benefit.”

This launch is yet another milestone on OpenWrks roadmap to help everyone get access to products they need to make the right financial decisions.

OpenWrks builds the technology that makes Open Banking work. The OpenWrks platform and applications make it easy for people to access their account information and securely share it with businesses they trust, so those businesses can deliver better, more personalised products and services. Using their global connectivity, OpenWrks has built a suite of applications that make money work for real people from self-service income and expenditure tools, to flexible repayment solutions.
