Lords To Hear From Financial Inclusion Commission, Age Uk And Disability Rights Uk

The House of Lords Committee on Financial Exclusion will tomorrow take evidence from the Financial Inclusion Commission, Age UK and Disability Rights UK as part of their ongoing inquiry.

The evidence sessions will start at 10:40am on Tuesday 13 September in Committee Room 2A of the House of Lords. First to give evidence will be:

 Sir Brian Pomeroy former Chairman of the Financial Inclusion Taskforce, President of the Financial Inclusion Commission

 Sir Sherard Cowper-Coles, Chairman of the Financial Inclusion Commission

 Chris Pond, Vice-Chairman of the Financial Inclusion Commission

This session will focus on whether efforts to tackle financial exclusion should be more targeted at the most vulnerable, progress made since the Financial Inclusion Commission’s report, which was published in March 2015, and how the banking and financial services industry have responded to the Commission’s work.

This will be followed at around 11:40am by evidence from:

 Lucy Malenczuk, Senior Policy Manager, Consumer and Community, Age UK

 Philip Connolly, Policy and Communications Manager, Disability Rights UK

In this session the Committee will ask the witnesses about the impact of financial exclusion on the members of their organisations, the impact of recent welfare and pension reforms on financial exclusion among older people and the disabled, and whether Post Office Card Accounts offer an opportunity to reduce financial exclusion.
