LatAm paytech Liquido launches with $26m in funding
Liquido, a US-based paytech company, has come out of “stealth mode” with $26 million in funding, led by Index Ventures, to modernize and democratize digital payments for Latin American businesses.
Liquido has spent two years building a payments infrastructure to allow businesses to accept and process all forms of payment, including credit and debit cards, bank transfers, digital wallets, and cash, to increase payment acceptance rates. Liquido also offers payroll payment services and payment to suppliers through bank transfers.
The company has launched its Payment Plus Platform, which provides customer experiences tailored to local markets, including a WhatsApp Liquido Store. With the funding, Liquido plans to accelerate deployment and develop additional capabilities.
Liquido’s Payment Success Booster solution is designed to help merchants achieve higher payment success rates by providing features such as fraud flagging, transaction blocking, WhatsApp payment recovery, flexible payment method switching, and smart routing and retrying.
The company believes that its approach to modernizing and democratizing digital payments in Latin America is similar to what Stripe has done in the US. Liquido’s unified API enables businesses to accept and process all types of payments, making it easier for them to access a wider range of customers and increase payment acceptance rates.
The company’s Payment Plus Platform is focused on providing tailored customer experiences for local markets. In addition to the WhatsApp Liquido Store, the platform offers a range of payment services, including payment processing, payroll payment services, and payment to suppliers through bank transfers.
Liquido has already processed $300 million in payments through a closed beta with several top consumer brands. With the new funding, the company aims to expand its deployment and develop additional capabilities to meet the needs of Latin American businesses.
Overall, Liquido’s focus on modernizing and democratizing digital payments in Latin America has the potential to have a significant impact on the region’s businesses and consumers. By providing a unified API that enables businesses to accept and process all types of payments, Liquido is helping to increase payment acceptance rates and make it easier for businesses to access a wider range of customers.
