Sixfold’s Research Agent Puts an End to Manual Underwriting Research

Sixfold’s Research Agent is designed to eliminate manual research bottlenecks. In doing so, it accelerates underwriting decisions by sourcing, synthesising, and documenting relevant risk intelligence from the web and third-party data – all available within the underwriter’s workflow.

Research Agent helps Sixfold customers surface critical information faster and more consistently. It acts as a research partner, finding gaps, filling in missing pieces, and delivering the insights that matter, saving underwriters at least two hours per submission and freeing them for higher-value work like risk judgment, broker engagement, and portfolio optimization.

“We anticipate that Research Agent will boost insurers’ ability to answer 30% more critical questions, giving underwriters a more complete understanding of risk before quoting,” said Alex Schmelkin, Founder and CEO of Sixfold.

The new Research Agent improves performance across several critical areas:

  • Faster speed to quote: by automating time-consuming research tasks, insurers can cut quoting times from days to hours – beating competitors to market and winning more business
  • Consistent underwriting decisions: Research Agent ensures that all data is consistently sourced and cited, creating audit-ready documentation and eliminating variability across teams
  • Improved risk assessment: by augmenting underwriters with intelligence from the web and trusted third-party sources, they get a more comprehensive view of risk

Schmelkin added: “We’re building AI agents designed specifically for insurance underwriting workflows. With the Research Agent, we’re aiming to AI-assist 100% of underwriting research — turning one of the industry’s most manual processes into one of its most strategic advantages.”

Feedback from initial users highlights Research Agent’s ability to surface relevant, actionable insights while maintaining the simplicity and workflow integration underwriters require.
