Omio Partners With Cover Genius to Offer Embedded Insurance to Their Customers, Including COVID-19 Protection
Omio has announced today its partnership with Cover Genius, the leading insurtech for embedded protection. It is the first time Omio has partnered with an insurtech.
The partnership enables Omio to offer ticket protection, including for COVID-19, embedded directly in the booking path.
Since its launch, Omio has grown to become one of Europe’s largest travel booking platforms, with more than 27 million monthly users, successfully bringing together huge amounts of data in the fragmented European transport network to create simple, seamless booking experiences.
Through the integration with XCover – Cover Genius’ award-winning global insurance distribution platform – Omio’s customers benefit from tailored protection when they book a ticket, to ensure an instant ticket refund upon approval if they have to cancel due to injury or illness, including COVID-19.
Brandon Doyle, Chief Product Officer at Omio says: “Omio prides itself in leading the way in innovation. We hope our new insurance product also provides added peace of mind with customers able to easily reclaim tickets and make instant claims when things don’t go according to plan – especially important in the current travel climate.”
“Omio is changing the way travel will look and feel in the future. We are excited to partner with Cover Genius to embed their world-leading technology into our offering. As a customer-centric company, Omio highly values Cover Genius’ claims technology, which delivers industry high NPS with simplified claims processes and instant payments of approved claims in 90+ currencies. We’re excited to extend protection for our customers in future.”
Peter Smith, VP Strategic Partnerships – Travel at Cover Genius: “The travel industry has been hit really hard since the pandemic, forcing companies to adapt to mass digital disruption. It’s great to see an innovative company like Omio adjust to the changed circumstances and recognise that there’s an insurtech difference that depends on a platform approach to delight customers and a willingness to upend traditional models that have been distributing conventional products for decades.
