Bluezone Insurance Partners with Shepherds Friendly to Launch Upgraded Life Insurance Solution for Individuals with Type 2 Diabetes

Bluezone, an insurtech reinventing life insurance for people with chronic illnesses, has announced a new partnership with leading insurer, Shepherds Friendly, to launch an upgraded version of its unique Life Insurance policy for people with Type 2 diabetes.

The partnership will give more individuals with Type 2 Diabetes access to life insurance by utilising advanced tech solutions that will offer much wider and affordable pricing options using a new premium adjustment feature, and tailored cover based on an individual’s specific requirements.

The solution will offer a streamlined digital journey that will make it quicker and easier to gain cover by removing lengthy form filling and required medical appointments previously needed to secure a similar policy. The upgraded cover will also give policyholders 12 months free access to the Gro Health app to help support their short and long-term improvements in mental and physical health and wellbeing.

Bluezone’s team consists of a group of doctors, AI scientists and insurance experts on a mission to improve the lives of those living with chronic health conditions by offering life insurance that empowers customers to live healthier lives.

As one of the oldest financial mutuals in the world, Shepherds Friendly are supporting Bluezone to innovate the insurance industry in the UK. In a world of financial complexity, Shepherds Friendly’s core belief is the power of simplicity, and they are working with Bluezone to develop accessible, simple, and fair products for individuals who would have otherwise struggled to secure life insurance.

Both Bluezone and Shepherds Friendly share a similar ethos of making a difference. With this recently upgraded product, consumers with chronic health conditions, a traditionally under-served market segment, will be able to protect themselves and their families financially. With over 4 million people in the UK currently diagnosed with Type 2 Diabetes, increasing by 18% over the last five years, there has never been a greater need for the product. Dr Karan Mehta, Co-Founder & CEO, Bluezone, commented: “We are delighted to announce our partnership with Shepherds Friendly. Our updated solution will allow us to offer our customers a quicker, simpler, and much more flexible solution meaning we can help even more individuals with Type 2 diabetes gain cover.”

Daniel Simpson, Chief Innovation Officer at Shepherds Friendly, added: “We are so pleased to be working with the innovative team at Bluezone and support with the launch of their updated life insurance product. The new solution will benefit so many individuals in the UK with Type 2 diabetes, allowing them to gain quick, easy cover, and a sense of financial security for themselves and their families.”
