Newfront Welcomes Andrew Hersh as National Security Practice Leader

Newfront, the tech-driven specialty insurance brokerage headquartered in San Francisco, announces that Andrew Hersh has joined the firm as National Security Practice Leader. Based in Philadelphia, Hersh will help strengthen the firm’s expertise in delivering tailored risk management solutions for clients in the national security sector and other industries facing evolving threats.

Hersh brings extensive experience in risk strategy, having worked with critical infrastructure companies and supporting global business and government leaders on high-stakes risk management challenges. Most recently, he founded and built Sigma7, a risk services firm, where he acquired six global businesses and integrated them to form a unified risk capability. Hersh has held leadership positions across risk services, insurance brokerage, and supply chain management.

“We are thrilled to welcome Andrew to the Newfront team,” said Brian Hetherington, President of Newfront. “His proven track record of managing risk, raising capital, and leading M&A transactions will be pivotal as we continue to grow our National Security Practice. Andrew’s strategic insights will enable us to provide innovative and comprehensive risk solutions to our clients.”

In his new role, Hersh will leverage his experience in raising 9-figure capital and his leadership in M&A transactions to help clients in the national security sector address high-risk challenges. He also serves as a member on the Board of Directors for Business Executives for National Security, a prestigious national security “do tank.” Additionally, he has held prominent roles as a Senior Fellow at George Washington’s Center for Cyber & Homeland Security and Auburn’s McCrary Institute for Cyber & Critical Infrastructure Security, and as a former member of the NJ Office of Homeland Security’s Infrastructure Advisory Committee.

Hersh’s hiring is part of Newfront’s ongoing effort to add top-tier talent across the United States to strengthen the firm’s advisory and risk management services. In recent years, Newfront has made strategic hires in key markets, including Boston, Pittsburgh, Chicago, and Texas, expanding its national footprint and enhancing its capabilities to serve clients across diverse industries.

As a top-40 insurance broker, Newfront continues to innovate with cutting-edge technology to meet the evolving needs of its clients. The firm has introduced several tech-driven solutions, including  D&O ModelingRiskPulse, and Contract Review, all designed to enhance the client experience by providing deeper insights and more efficient risk management. These tools, combined with Newfront’s broad expertise, allow the firm to deliver dynamic, data-driven solutions for its clients.
