Flutterwave Announces Planned Leadership Changes to Strengthen Risk, Compliance, Regulatory, and Legal Functions

Flutterwave, a leading payments technology company, today announced a reorganisation of its risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal leadership team, reinforcing its commitment to global standards and sustainable growth. This evolution is part of a planned succession strategy.

Prashant Kalia, with over two decades of risk and compliance leadership experience at Circle, Stripe, Amazon, and American Express, has been appointed Chief Risk and Compliance Officer. This appointment underscores Flutterwave’s dedication to upholding the highest standards in these critical areas as it expands its global footprint.

Prashant Kalia began his career at McKinsey, where he advised technology companies following the completion of his MBA from Columbia University. Subsequently, he spent over a decade at American Express, initially joining as Director of Information Management and progressing to the role of Chief Credit Officer for Corporate Payment Services in Europe and Asia, a position he held until 2016. He later had a Risk and Compliance leadership stint at Amazon, Stripe, and Circle before joining Flutterwave over a year ago.

Mobolaji Bammeke, who served as Chief Compliance Officer for the past five years, having brought valuable experience from JP Morgan, will transition to the role of Chief Regulatory and Data Protection Officer while he continues to oversee regulatory compliance for Flutterwave in Nigeria. This move will allow Mobolaji to broaden his focus on navigating regulatory environments and ensuring data privacy compliance across all of Flutterwave’s operating markets.

Oluwabankole Falade, who has served as Chief Regulatory and Public Policy Officer and recently assumed the role of Chief Legal Officer, will continue to play a key role as the Chief Legal, Regulatory, and Public Policy Officer. This provides synergy and clarity across these vital functions. To ensure a seamless transition, Amaresh Mohan, the outgoing Chief Risk Officer who was instrumental in building out Flutterwave’s Risk function, will remain as a Strategic Advisor to Prashant and the Founder, CEO, Olugbenga Agboola.

“These key changes demonstrate our proactive approach to risk management, compliance, regulatory, and legal affairs,” said Olugbenga “GB” Agboola, Founder and CEO of Flutterwave. “This is a planned succession, and Prashant’s deep expertise in risk and compliance will be invaluable as we continue to scale globally. We deeply appreciate Amaresh’s contributions and are glad he will continue to advise us. Mobolaji and Bankole’s continued leadership in their new roles will ensure we maintain the highest standards of regulatory compliance, legal awareness, and robust risk management.”

“I am excited to step into this role as Chief Risk and Compliance Officer at Flutterwave,” said Prashant Kalia. “Having worked closely with Amaresh and the team over the past few months, I am committed to building upon the strong foundation laid to establish a comprehensive risk and compliance framework that supports the company’s sustainable growth goals.”

Oluwabankole Falade commented, “Bringing our legal, regulatory and public policy functions together ensures greater alignment across these areas central to Flutterwave’s global growth. Working with Mobolaji in this integration ensures we are better positioned to proactively engage with the key stakeholders across these functions, strengthening our commitment to regulatory excellence and ability to uphold the highest standards of stakeholder engagement across all our markets of operation.”
