Adempi Appoints Lorraine Mouat as Partner to Lead Payments Practice
Adempi, the specialist FCA compliance consultancy, has appointed Lorraine Mouat as Partner to lead its payment services and e-money practice. The appointment strengthens Adempi’s fintech capabilities at a time when regulatory scrutiny of payment firms is intensifying.
Lorraine brings extensive experience supporting payment service providers (PSPs) and electronic money institutions (EMIs) through complex regulatory challenges. She specialises in compliance frameworks, systems and controls, monitoring, culture and conduct risk, and has successfully guided numerous firms through FCA authorisation processes.
With the FCA rejecting a growing number of payment firm applications and raising expectations across the sector, Lorraine’s appointment responds to increasing demand for specialist, practical compliance support that balances regulatory rigour with commercial reality.
“We’re seeing more businesses incorporating payment services into their models, whether they’re fintechs, investment firms, consumer credit providers or crypto businesses,” said Gillian Roche-Saunders, one of Adempi’s cofounders. “Lorraine’s track record of delivering great outcomes for clients, combined with her deep understanding of the payments regime, makes her a perfect fit for Adempi. Our clients value direct access to real expertise, and Lorraine embodies that approach.”
Lorraine has worked with start-ups, fast-growing private firms and listed entities across her career. Her experience spans FCA authorisations, safeguarding and due diligence assessments, and FCA Skilled Person reviews. She also holds GDPR Practitioner status, bringing extensive data protection and privacy compliance expertise to Adempi’s clients.
At Adempi, Lorraine will lead the payment services and e-money practice, delivering external consultancy services on a project, retainer and ad hoc basis. She will also expand Adempi’s risk management capabilities, offering clients a comprehensive approach to navigating an increasingly complex regulatory landscape.
“The payments sector is incredibly dynamic, but it’s also a space where firms are making avoidable mistakes,” said Lorraine Mouat. “I’m excited to join Adempi because we share the same philosophy: provide practical, considered advice that helps firms anticipate regulatory expectations whilst supporting their business objectives. With the right guidance, firms can build sustainable compliance frameworks that enable growth rather than constrain it.”
Adempi’s senior-only consultant model means clients work directly with experienced subject matter experts rather than junior teams. The firm specialises in supporting payment services and e-money, asset management, consumer credit, venture capital, private equity, real estate, and crowdfunding sectors.
