NTT DATA Adopts Luminance’s Legal-Grade AI Across Europe
Luminance, the pioneer in Legal-Grade™ AI, today announced that world-leading IT services provider, NTT DATA, has adopted its AI to enhance and expedite legal processes in Europe.
NTT DATA is a $30 billion global provider of business and technology services, serving 75% of Fortune Global 100 companies. As part of a company-wide shift towards AI-driven efficiency, NTT DATA’s legal team sought a technology that would allow the company to cut time spent on contract negotiation, reduce risk and ensure global contracting consistency. It was critical that the tool satisfy NTT DATA’s strict security mandates, while remaining intuitive to facilitate quick adoption across multiple global teams. After a careful selection process, the company chose to adopt Luminance’s AI, rolling the technology out to legal employees across ten European countries, with plans to expand usage to all legal teams in APAC, the US, and Latin America in the near future.
NTT DATA is now using Luminance to take a first pass review of incoming contracts. Luminance’s AI automatically compares all contractual clauses to NTT DATA’s playbook, instantly redlining the document and suggesting alternative wording for risky or non-standard clauses which can be substituted in a click. By bringing all of this institutional knowledge directly into Microsoft Word, Luminance’s AI is not only enabling the team to review lengthy agreements in minutes and reducing time spent on routine work, it is also providing junior members of the team with past decision-making to easily learn from. Furthermore, with Luminance’s chatbot, Ask Lumi, the team can provide the C-suite with executive summaries of key contractual content and possible risks in multiple languages at short notice. Utilising Luminance’s Legal-Grade™ AI the NTT DATA team successfully reviewed an 80-page Master Services Agreement in just five minutes, meeting a tight RFP deadline with remarkable speed and accuracy.
Beyond Legal, NTT DATA’s sales, commercial, and financial teams are also seeing strong return on investment from Luminance’s AI-powered repository, which instantly surfaces critical data points and clauses from data in any format type. For example, with the recent fluctuations in foreign exchange (FX) rates and rapid inflation, the team can easily identify and contact clients and suppliers to enforce FX and COLA (Cost-of-Living-Adjustment) clauses that might otherwise have been missed. Similarly, Luminance automatically alerts the team to upcoming terminations and renewals to ensure commercial opportunities or risks aren’t missed.
David Pinkney, VP of Legal and Compliance, Europe at NTT DATA, commented: “Luminance allows us to contract with more confidence than ever before. As a forward-thinking, innovative company, we always want the best for our teams, and Luminance is the standout AI provider for the legal profession. The company’s history as a next-generation due diligence tool for some of the world’s best law firms and large corporates showed their credibility in this market. We’re excited to continue rolling out Luminance’s AI across our enterprise.”
Eleanor Lightbody, CEO of Luminance, added: “Industry leaders like NTT DATA need solutions that are agile and scalable across multiple global teams, Luminance’s advanced capabilities deliver this, and we are proud to welcome NTT DATA as a customer. It’s clear the team saw the value of Luminance from the outset, and that’s the power of true AI. Being chosen as the partner for one of the best IT service providers in the world is a testament to the value of Luminance’s specialist, Legal-Grade™ AI.”
