Lunar Launches “Wallet Story” – Your Banking Year as a Comic
Annual summaries have become a cultural phenomenon in recent years, spanning everything from music and fitness to learning apps. Now, the same logic is entering personal finance. Instead of charts and diagrams, customers are presented with a visual story of their life with money over the past year.
“We use our money almost every day, yet getting an annual overview of your personal finances is rarely engaging or inviting. With “Wallet story”, we wanted to give our users something personal, recognisable, and easy to relate to, alongside the traditional annual statement,” says Ken Villum Klausen, Founder and CEO of Lunar.
“Wallet story” is built on users’ own transaction data and summarises the past year through themes such as housing, travel, and everyday spending.
“This isn’t about being ‘good’ with money. There are no scores, no advice, and no judgement. It’s simply a summary of what your year looked like, told in a way you’re not used to seeing from a bank,” says Ken Villum Klausen.
Launching “Wallet story“ took only a few days, made possible by in-house technology and a close connection between the app and the underlying systems. This allowed a small team to take the idea all the way to customers in record time.
“The idea came from a simple question: ‘Can we try this?’ When you’ve built your technology and organisation to support rapid experimentation and new user experiences, projects like this become possible,” says Ken Villum Klausen.
Lunar’s private customers can now download their own “Wallet story” directly in the app.*
