FinTech Australia Announces New Board Appointments
FinTech Australia has announced several new board members following their appointment during its Annual General Meeting.
New board members include:
- Sarah Gorman, Head of Growth & Marketing at DAS, appointed Deputy Chair
- Kellie Morton, Chief Legal Officer & Director at Birchal
- Vinnie D’Alessandro, Chief Product Officer at Change Financial.
- Brian Collins, Principal at Audacity Ventures
They join existing board members:
- Simone Joyce, CEO and co-founder of Paypa Plane, remains as Chair
- Christian Westerlind Wigstrom, co-founder and CEO of Monoova, appointed Treasuer
- Dominic Pym, Co-founder of Up and Co-founder and Director of Euphemia
- Michael Saadat, International Head of Public Policy at Block
- Harry Godber, Head of Strategy and General Counsel at Flare
- Cathryn Lyall, Partner, Seed Space VC and Co-Founder Seed Money
As part of the shift Marie Mortimer will roll off FinTech Australia’s board. Oliver Kidd also departed the board earlier this year.
FinTech Australia’s board members are selected from the ecosystem to help govern the peak body’s decision making and ensure it represents the best interest of the fintech industry. Board members are elected through a nomination and voting process by members.
FinTech Australia Chair Simone Joyce will continue in her role as Chair into 2024, handing over the role to another board member following a transition process next year.
Joyce said: “It’s an honour to continue to serve as FinTech Australia’s chair as the sector continues to mature, evolve and meet the challenges of funding uncertainty and broader global economic headwinds. While membership continues to grow and FinTech Australia is engaging with its members in more ways than ever before, we decided that a transition period would be best instead of a straight handover. My key goal in this period is to ensure a smooth handover to a new Chair to pick up the reins and hit the ground running.”
Rehan D’Almeida, General Manager of FinTech Australia, said: “We thank Marie and Oliver for their contributions to FinTech Australia. Our board is incredibly hands-on, in some ways acting as an extension of our team. We’re grateful for all of their work and their continued guidance on our operations. Australian fintechs are punching above its weight globally, and we aim to continue representing and showcasing the innovation in the industry”

FinTech Australia Urges Government to Open Procurement Pipeline and Fix Funding Settings for Fintechs
FinTech Australia is calling on the Federal Government, as part of its 2026–27 Pre-Budget Submission, to broaden its procurement pipeline to better include fintechs and small and medium businesses. In addition, to recalibrate existing funding mechanisms – including venture capital tax concessions, superannuation settings and the Research and Development Tax Incentive – to create stronger, more predictable funding pathways for emerging fintechs.
TransUnion CIBIL and State Bank of India’s YONO App Collaborate to Integrate CIBIL Score and Report Into Everyday Digital Banking
TransUnion CIBIL, India’s leading credit information company, today announced the integration of the consumer CIBIL Score and Report into State Bank of India’s (SBI) You Only Need One (YONO) app. Seamless incorporation of the score and report allows the bank’s customers to securely access and monitor their CIBIL Score and wider credit information when they use the app. The integration also includes report analysis, ‘Frequently Asked Questions’ and gamified learning to understand the credit score process. In addition, the CIBIL Score Simulator feature in the app will help customers simulate different credit scenarios such as opening or closing loan accounts and credit cards, late payments, clearance of credit card dues, new enquiries among others, to assess and understand the implications for their CIBIL Score.
