Finom Rolls Out AI Accountant for All German Customers Following Successful Beta Testing

Finom, the leading European financial services platform for SMEs, opens access to AI Accounting to all customers in Germany. This system streamlines accounting workflows with proactive transaction categorization and reconciliation, receipt and invoice recognition, bookkeeping record creation, preparation of the tax declaration and sending them to tax authorities as well as automated tax payment management and real-time deadline tracking and compliance notifications.

Finom’s AI Accountant is a distributed AI multi-agent system (MAS) that consists of multiple autonomous AI agents that collaborate within a shared environment on tasks too difficult for a single agent. This advanced approach in AI innovation is seeing increasing adoption across industries as it enables a new level of task coordination and problem solving.

The AI-native solution targets an estimated €225 billion small business financial services market, addressing the complex accounting and tax needs of German entrepreneurs. This launch comes as Finom surpasses the 200,000 accounts threshold across Europe.

The announcement follows user research conducted during the beta period that started in March 2025. Analysis of more than 1000 SMEs and freelancers revealed significant gaps in current market offerings and validated strong demand for integrated, fully automated accounting solutions. Based on beta feedback and market research, the company updated the product functionality significantly for the full market rollout, including the option for separate tax declaration approaches for different income streams.

Key insights:

  • 85% of self-employed Germans manage multiple business activities or legal entities using fragmented approaches for tax declarations.

  • 56% handle their own tax filings without a tax adviser.

  • 74% of those surveyed complained about tax advisors’ high costs, lack of transparency, unreliability, and non-digital processes.

  • 80% of the freelancers and micro businesses spend from 200 to 3000+ annually on tax preparation and submission.

  • Most common demands are automation for invoice categorization and reconciliation and proactive notifications for deadlines and missing documents.

The AI Accountant addresses the key pain points identified during research:

  • Automatically categorizes invoices and receipts, reconciliation of the documents and transactions, performs tax calculations and submission of the declarations to the Finanzamt, provides timely alerts for tax deadlines and missing documents.

  • Offers clear AI explanations of the requirements and how accounting works.

  • Eliminates the need for multiple fragmented tools by providing an all-in-one solution for all the business needs.

  • Has integrations with the most popular accounting softwares in Germany with the coverage of 85%.

“Our product development has been entirely driven by listening to our customers and understanding their real-world challenges,” said Ivo Dimitrov, Chief Venture Officer and co-founder of Finom. “During the beta period we gathered invaluable insights, validated different ideas and approaches and delivered the product that works for our customers. It helps them get things done. This user-centric approach ensures we’re solving actual problems, not perceived ones.”

At the time of this launch Finom AI Accounting fully covers the tax submission needs of freelancers and self-employed professionals. In the coming months Finom will  expand AI Accounting to include specific reports, such as Lohnsteueranmeldung (payroll) and Zusammenfassende Meldung (intra-EU transactions), for more complex company structures, including GmbH and UG entities. Following the successful German launch, the company plans to expand the AI Accounting across additional European markets.
