FEMALE ENTREPRENEUR TURNS TO CROWD, TO PROMOTE HEALTHIER SNACKING

Emily Crisps CEO raises over £1 million investment from Seedrs campaign to support expansion

Multi award-winning* diverse East London startup snack-brand Emily Crisps, spearheaded by founder, CEO and female entrepreneur Emily Wong, has successfully raised over £1 million investment through a crowd funding campaign.

The funding will help to accelerate the growth of Emily Crisps across the UK through increased brand awareness and distribution, in preparation for its US launch next year. With the brand on a mission to spread across the globe its innovative better-for-you snacks aligned with consumer eating trends.

The Emily Crisps brand was founded in 2014 and launched exclusively in Selfridges, by partners Emily Wong and Ale Ascani, as a healthy alternative to traditional potato crisps and fruit snacks.

Emily Crisps’ success story is underpinned by its diverse and young workforce that allows it to be in-tune with changing snaking habits in the UK and aboard. Firmly grounded in Hackney London’s creative hub, this female led start up has 75% of its employees that are millennials and represent over 8 different nationalities.

Just four years after its founding the brand is one of the UK’s startup success stories, with its female led management team that has grown the business to £2 million in 18 months and has raised over £1m of crowd investment so far – spearheading a new market segment.

2018 is expected to be one of the snacking brand’s most successful years for sales. Driven by the success of the brand’s recently launched Sweet Potato Sticks range, a London-based experiential sampling, and out of home marketing campaign which saw over 30,000 samples and over 40,000 coupons distributed over the week-long campaign.

Emily Crisps is now stocked in more than 5000 retail locations in London and the South-West, including on the aisles of multinationals Waitrose, Sainsburys and Tesco but also of premium stores such as Planet Organic and Whole Food’s.
