ConnectUW launches Insurtech Venture Capital Firm and Start-Up Incubator
Connect Underwriting Limited is pleased to announce the launch of ConnectUW Digital, which includes its new venture capital investment arm – Digital Capital, and its own insurtech incubator – Digital Labs.
Digital Capital will provide pre/early seed funding and investment, primarily via collaborative partnerships with the market’s leading insurtech venture capital funds, with an initial focus on collaborations in the UK, EU, and US.
Digital Labs will provide platform engineering services, as well as operating the in-house incubator tasked with integrating insurtech businesses with Connect’s proprietary aggregator core – ‘Connect Marketplace’, which is supported with capacity from some of the leading Lloyd’s and London market (re)insurance firms.
The Connect Marketplace platform provides Lloyd’s brokers with specialty products from leading Lloyd’s and London Markets and is one of the few platforms recognised by Lloyd’s for e-placement. Jamil R. Elbahou, Chief Executive Officer at Connect Underwriting commented: “The insurtech space is an exciting and fast-paced environment to operate in and there is a lot of talent and fantastic ideas out there looking for support, whether that is initial investment, a home to grow a business, or a framework to plug into. We believe that collaboration is the best approach, by supporting the great VCs and incubators out there and fielding these opportunities. As a technology partner, where it makes sense, our mission will be to invest around our Marketplace aggregator core and ‘Live Trade’ offering to our carrier partners, to build plug and play distribution opportunities end-to-end.”
