By Miles Bolsters Leadership Team for 2022

By Miles, the UK’s leading pay-by-mile insurance provider, can announce the arrival of a raft of senior hires across the business, set to help amplify growth in 2022.

A number of new hires have been made in brand new roles, with many bringing experience from other incumbent companies. The company is hoping to build on the growth accelerated by changing driver behaviour over the past two years, and look to expand its product offering to attract more members. Since launch in mid-2018, By Miles now boasts over 250 million miles insured by its members and was recently voted Insurance Provider of the Year at the Insurance Choice Awards for the third year in a row.

This month sees two more senior hires joining the ranks, following a series of new C-suite appointments in 2021.

Asha Singh (they/them) – Chief People Officer – Joined as By Miles’ first non-founder C-suite hire in 2021. Asha is a Neuroscientist and comes from a decade of experience in scaling startups like Oracle Maxymiser, Poq, Localz and Moixa. Initially working with the team to establish the company virtues and fundamental People practices, Asha will continue to champion inclusion and compassionate-leadership as By Miles navigates its next phase of growth.

Maddy Howlett (she/her) – Chief Commercial Officer – Joined in late 2021, after spending 18 years at Centrica in a variety of leadership roles working across the British Gas, Hive, Dyno and Local Heroes brands. Most recently, Maddy ran Local Heroes and was Head of Commercial for all repairs, improvements, installations and consumer credit.  Maddy will be responsible for ensuring the rapid growth of By Miles is maintained into 2022 and beyond.

Todd Zino (he/him) – Chief Product & Technology Officer – Joins this week, following 10 years leading Fintech and price comparison ventures on both sides of the Atlantic. Most recently, Todd ran product & tech for Trussle. Prior to this, he spearheaded platform and product launches for uSwitch, Bankrate, The Points Guy, and creditcards.com on behalf of Red Ventures who acquired a portfolio that included Wallaby Financial, a digital wallet company co-founded by Todd in 2012. He will be responsible for building out the By Miles product, data, insurance, and technology capability as it expands.

Ed Naish (he/him) – VP of Marketing – Joining last month, Ed previously led marketing for Churchill and Privilege Motor at Direct Line Group. Most recently he was Marketing Director at OVO Energy, for SSE and CORGI. Ed takes the reins as VP of Marketing with a focus on developing the marketing function and installing By Miles as the category leader and household name.

The influx of quality has also led to the overall headcount growing from 25 in March 2020 to 80 today. By Miles now counts ex-Aviva, LV=, Direct Line Group, Ageas and Admiral employees among its ranks.

Asha Singh, Chief People Officer at By Miles, said: “As a scaleup in the insurance space it’s been amazing to build a company and culture that is completely unlike the rest of the industry.

“We unapologetically put our people and virtues first, and it’s brilliant to see talented, wonderful people wanting to join our story. By Miles is tearing up the rule book when it comes to insurance but also in regards to the employee experience, the world is changing rapidly and we have big ambitions about how we are going to meet that challenge. We’ve had some huge success in the past couple of years and we’re not done yet.”

James Blackham, CEO and Founder at By Miles, said: “We’re so pleased to be able to welcome a high calibre of people to By Miles, to help us achieve our mission of making driving fairer.

“Our amazing growth over the past couple of years demonstrates that By Miles is resonating with drivers, so now it’s great to see that we’re making waves in the industry too and bringing on board such talented people.

“2022 is set to be a huge year for us, and I’m thrilled to have Asha, Maddy, Todd and Ed on board for the journey.”
