Armillion to launch a handcrafted Jewel Bracelet for Contactless Payment and Security Access

This fall 2017 we are going to assist in the birth of the ultimate statement of an elite lifestyle, a jewel that fuses functionality, exclusivity and luxury like never before: the launch of the Armillion Bracelet. A combination of cutting-edge technology, Swiss ingenuity and watchmaking design, this is the new benchmark for men’s haute joaillerie.

Impressive as the performance automotive-inspired bracelet is to look at, it has hidden depths in the form of Armillion technology. This technology is simple but eternally applicable. The bracelet acts as a key to daily life, allowing the wearer the ease and convenience of a world totally unlocked.

The RFID technology at the core of the Armillion bracelet not only allows encrypted security access but can contactlessly pay up to £200.000, backed by Mastercard©. However, unlike most wearables with their frustratingly limited battery lives, the bracelet is always on, always working and never needs a charge. It actually takes its energy from every reader device, each time it’s used.

On the surface, the Armillion bracelet is a single piece of high-tech ceramic, one of the hardest materials on Earth and extremely scratch resistant, usually only seen on the bezels of high-end watches. In the body of Armillion it’s also embellished with a variety of textures and finishes, each more beautifully intricate than the last. Around this is a solid case of precious metal in 18k pink or yellow gold or titanium treated with a diamond-like carbon coating.

The story of Armillion starts, as so many exceptional feats of ingenuity do, in Geneva, with its unique mix of banks, wealth safety services and watchmaking ateliers. The idea was a simple one, a piece of jewellery that while innately masculine and undeniably luxurious was also practical – something that jewellery very rarely is.

The plan was set and the milestones were not easy – to create a jewel on the wrist that can pay hundreds of pounds in a second, open a hundred-thousand- pound supercar as its wearer approaches, or unlock the full security system of a multi-million- dollar mansion. The company wanted to create something that unifies everything the elite man expects from the world of luxury.

In October 2014, founders started development of their idea bringing together some of the finest craftsmen in Geneva with Security and FinTech experts, to bring to life something that had never been done before.

It took the expert ateliers of Armillion three years of solid research and development to achieve the desired design, finding new ways to work with difficult cutting-edge materials. The 18kt white gold alloy is five times harder than usual, the precious 18kt yellow and red gold alloys have been developed specifically by their specialists, the grade 5 titanium has been treated to be three times harder than normal and just as lightweight.

That’s all without mentioning the bracelet’s high-tech ceramic. The exclusive zirconia oxide core is made from just two complex solid pieces, each of which takes five days up to 1.500 degrees of heat to create, before they are machined 98 hours with diamond-tipped tools to a thousandth of a millimetre for the perfect fit. A further five days of polishing is required before they achieve the unique black mirror finish that will receive the flawless guilloche engraving.

The Armillion bracelet isn’t simply a jewel, nor is it a wearable; it’s not just an example of consummate engineering or exceptional design; it’s all these and more. The bracelet is a symbol of exclusivity and a badge of honour and, for the elite few that will wear them, the future of men’s jewellery.

Each edition of the Armillion bracelet is limited to 10 examples worldwide, the first of which will be available to purchase by October 2017. For more information, you can visit www.armillion.com and contact at sales@armillion.com and +41 78 658 85 74
