Albany Group Appoints Swiftcover Founder as New Board Advisor
London-based automated risk, compliance, and regulation software specialists, Albany Group, have announced the appointment of a new board member with specialist knowledge of insurance and technology, as the company looks to continue its rapid growth within the insurance industry.
Former Swiftcover founder Matt Potashnick, will be responsible for using his extensive experience to drive growth and support in developing innovative software solutions to solve the problems the insurance industry is facing amidst the backdrop of the pandemic.
Matt has the extensive technical experience and is currently chief information officer at the UK’s largest life insurance broker, Reassured, a role he will continue alongside this new advisory position. Prior to this, he launched two disruptive insurance companies: Swiftcover in 2005 and Intergroup Insurance in 1996.
At Swiftcover, he created an online solution, now the norm, allowing customers to purchase motor insurance online for the first time in the UK, then moving the business into home and travel insurance. The company was acquired by AXA in 2007 where he subsequently served as group CIO for UK & Ireland.
Matt Potashnick, board advisor at Albany Group, said: “I’m delighted to be working with an exciting, rapidly growing business such as Albany Group. The company has developed innovative risk and intelligence technologies, allowing exponents to improve the way they work and enhance their offering to customers, all whilst remaining compliant with regulations. The pandemic has highlighted the importance of technology for the insurance industry and has for many forced the hand of innovation and investment – though this is just the tip of the iceberg. By investing in the right technology companies can unlock new opportunities and potential. Not only will businesses improve the way they work, but crucially they will also improve the all-important customer offering and experience.”
Adam Richards, COO, and co-founder of Albany Group said: “We’re extremely pleased to welcome Matt on board to add further expertise and enrich our already strong team. Matt’s experience and standing within the industry speak volumes and will help further cement our expertise in the insurance industry. Matt’s appointment is a sign of our intent for future growth and ambition, as we continue our mission of helping businesses in the industry improve workflows and outcomes through Albany Group’s innovative solutions.”
