How has the understanding of RPA evolved?
Twelve months ago, when we engaged in conversations with potential clients, it revolved around educating people in what RPA was and how it can be applied to their business. Today, organizations are more informed about the implications for their business and are starting on large-scale projects, and organizations are now looking at additional automation opportunities such as cognitive learning and AI.
Where do you see automation heading in the next year?
As RPA becomes more commonplace, we see the focus on automation shifting to areas of businesses were unstructured data is being used and human’s are providing intelligent inputs into business systems. Changes in business models are being made possible by technologies such as web chat and natural language technologies, which can translate unstructured data and provide intelligent insight currently provided by humans.
What can organizations do to keep up with change and maximize opportunity?
Executives need to think more holistically about how they deliver effective outcomes for their business. Traditional RPA approaches often reproduce inefficiencies of human silo’s, by delivering automation to specific functions or roles within organizations. Instead of taking this approach, organizations should create a shared pool of resources that can serve any business function and flex in alignment with changing workloads.
