Aveni Launches AI-Powered Case-Level Outcome Testing to Transform Compliance Monitoring
By Lauren Towner · 11 September 2026

Aveni has upgraded its Detect platform to enable multi-channel compliance monitoring, allowing financial institutions to assess entire customer journeys rather than isolated interactions. By integrating calls, emails, and documents into a single AI-powered workflow, firms can now meet stringent Consumer Duty requirements with 100% oversight, moving beyond the limitations of traditional manual sampling.
What was announced
The enhancement to Detect shifts compliance from reviewing individual moments to assessing holistic customer outcomes. Traditionally, compliance teams have relied on manual sampling, often covering only 5–10% of interactions long after they occurred. The updated platform provides 100% coverage immediately post-conversation, assessing every interaction across webchat, SMS, voice calls, emails, and supporting documents. This allows compliance teams to see how an issue flagged in a text message might have been resolved—or exacerbated—in a subsequent phone call, providing a complete contextual view of the customer journey.
This case-level oversight is powered by FinLLM, Aveni’s suite of financial-services-specific AI models. As the UK’s first purpose-built LLM for regulated environments, FinLLM allows for more accurate vulnerability detection and Consumer Duty oversight by understanding the specific context of financial advice and transactions. Aveni reports that this proprietary model is approximately 25x cheaper than relying on generic hyperscaler models for complex compliance cases, offering a significant cost-efficiency advantage for large-scale operations.
The system includes an automated triage feature that can reduce outcome testing time by up to six times without requiring additional headcount. It also generates a verifiable audit trail and population-level trend data, enabling firms to transition from reactive to proactive intervention. The platform is fully configurable to specific regulatory focuses, including Treating Customers Fairly (TCF), complaints handling, vulnerability, and collections conduct. Following successful trials with a number of customers through 2026, the enhanced capability is now available to new customers.
"Customer outcomes can't always be understood from a single call or document. A concern raised in one interaction may only become significant when it's considered alongside an email, a later conversation or the final action taken by the firm. Detect brings that information together so compliance teams can understand the complete customer journey, identify the cases that need attention and produce clear evidence of how customers have been treated. It moves compliance monitoring from reviewing isolated moments to assessing real outcomes."

The companies involved
Aveni is a specialist provider of AI solutions tailored specifically for the financial services sector. Based in the UK, the company has established itself as a significant player in the regtech space, focusing on the intersection of generative AI and regulatory compliance. Unlike many AI firms that adapt general-purpose large language models (LLMs) for financial use, Aveni developed FinLLM as a dedicated solution for the specific linguistic and regulatory nuances of the UK financial market. This vertical-specific approach is designed to provide higher accuracy in identifying customer vulnerability and ensuring adherence to complex UK regulations.
The company’s focus on "Agent Assurance" and automated compliance monitoring has seen it gain traction among major financial institutions looking to navigate the complexities of the Financial Conduct Authority’s (FCA) Consumer Duty regulations. Aveni has positioned itself as a cost-effective alternative to global hyperscalers, arguing that domain-specific models offer better accuracy and lower operational costs for regulated firms. The company has maintained a strong presence in the Scottish fintech ecosystem and has recently expanded its influence across the wider UK banking landscape through strategic partnerships and successful participation in regulatory sandboxes, proving its technology in high-stakes, supervised environments.
What FF News has reported before
FF News has closely tracked Aveni’s growth, recently noting the company’s inclusion in the Sunday Times Fast 50 as one of Scotland’s fastest-growing businesses. The firm’s technological capabilities were further validated when Nationwide deployed Aveni’s FinLLM to support its broader AI transformation strategy. This followed a significant £12m funding round aimed at launching its AI agent assurance platform. Additionally, Aveni was a key participant in the FCA’s inaugural Supercharged Sandbox, where it demonstrated the efficacy of real-time agent assurance for firms deploying AI agents.
What this means
This announcement highlights a critical shift in the regtech market: the move from "spot-check" compliance to total population monitoring. For years, the 5% manual sampling rate was the industry standard, but the introduction of Consumer Duty has made that level of oversight increasingly indefensible. By offering a 25x cost advantage over generic LLMs, Aveni is putting direct pressure on horizontal AI providers who lack vertical-specific training. The real test for the sector will be whether these automated assessments can withstand the scrutiny of a regulatory audit as effectively as human reviewers. If successful, this technology effectively commoditises basic compliance monitoring, forcing traditional consultancies to pivot their value proposition toward higher-level advisory work.
