Ian Malin is the CFO of Wizz Air, one of the fastest-growing ultra-low-cost airlines in Europe. He joined us live from Heathrow’s Terminal 5 for the FF Virtual Arena, where he filled us in on Wizz Air’s recent announcement of accepting American Express. The move is strategic decision on Wizz Air’s part to eliminate barriers for business travellers and tap into new customer segments.
With more than two decades of experience in aviation, Malin’s careers in aircraft financing, supply chain operations, and leadership roles in airline management. After years of working with the company as a partner, he joined Wizz Air as he was inspired by Wizz Air’s incredible growth and operational commitment. Under his financial guidance, Wizz Air is still expanding across Europe and beyond and now has one of the youngest, most efficient fleets flying well over 1000 flights a day.
Malin has emphasized that Wizz Air is all about affordable and accessible travel, and is investing in incurring payment solutions like Revolut and Amex to ensure customers have the best experience possible. Moving forward, he has his eye on supporting airline’s plan to double its fleet to over 400 aircraft by the end of the decade and continue to lead the industry in operational costs and sustainable performance.
