In Paris for the Paris Fintech Forum Leaders Summit 2023, we caught up with Federico Travella, Founder & Executive Chairman of Novicap. Novicap is a European fintech focused on providing end-to-end working capital solutions to SMEs, mid-market corporates and public administrations.

“We’re at a seven-year low in terms of venture capital funding in the European market. As such, many more companies are also looking at what the options are across the entire capital structure. What can you do beyond the typical equity and debt instruments? So, working capital management and financing has never been as high on the agenda for CFOs or treasuries. As such, we believe the European market is definitely warming up to the idea of having a fintech help you manage and finance your working capital.”

“We don’t necessarily compete with banks. What we’ve been really good at is building our systems or our tech from the Internet up. That means we don’t have the legacy and we don’t have those economics that are typically very hard for banks to make profitable in the SME or in the small business segment.”
