Delivering Country Model Banks to Streamline Deployment | Systems Limited | Temenos Community Forum 2024

Delivering Country Model Banks to streamline deployment.

In a brand new interview from Temenos Community Forum 2024, we speak to Asif Peer and Ammara Masood from Systems Limited to find out more about their role in driving technological change in financial services and how, along with Temenos, they’ve developed a new way of streamlining regional deployment for banks.

The interview also touches on their expertise in the great cloud transition and we hear why they were recognised by Temenos as the 2023 Regional Delivery Partner of the Year. Watch the conversation and read on to find out more.

A Pioneering Technology Partner in Pakistan

The interview begins with Peer, Group CEO of Systems Limited, highlighting the company’s stature as the largest technology firm in Pakistan with a global presence in 12 countries. They specialise in a number of verticals but of course including the public sector and telecoms but of course it’s financial services that is of interest here. Their deep involvement in banking is supported by partnerships with technology leaders such as Temenos, which is why they’re here today.

Ammara Masood, who heads up the banking and financial services vertical for Systems, emphasizes this long-standing collaboration with Temenos. The speakers go on to talk about how they’ve been licensed to develop Country Model Banks across 12 countries in the GCC and APAC regions, a strategy aimed at accommodating unique banking regulations and integrations in each country. This allows for seamless upgrades and implementations, offering clients a competitive edge with pre-configured, out-of-the-box solutions that minimize regulatory hurdles and accelerate deployment.

Regarding cloud migration, Masood says they’re well-prepared to support banks in transitioning to cloud-native architectures. The demand for cloud services is growing, especially for mission-critical systems like core banking. Systems Limited’s strong cloud competency, bolstered by partnerships with Red Hat, AWS, and Microsoft Azure, positions them to meet this demand effectively. They see a trend where banks opt for cloud solutions when upgrading their core systems, often starting with on-premises setups and gradually moving to hyper scaler clouds.

Systems Limited’s recognition as the 2023 Regional Delivery Partner of the Year by Temenos underscores their commitment to delivering customer value through innovation and customer-centricity. This partnership focuses on modernizing technology and offering comprehensive end-to-end solutions, including core banking, infrastructure, data integration, AI, and middleware. The long-term partnership with Temenos, particularly in the strategic 12 countries, reflects their dedication to sustained collaboration and innovation.

The future of banking

Emerging business models like banking as a service (BaaS) are shaping the future of banking, with specialization in distribution, manufacturing, or aggregation becoming more prevalent. Systems Limited, in collaboration with Temenos, is developing managed platforms to support digital banks and specialized financial institutions. These innovations are driven by the need for banks to modernize their technology stacks, with cloud-native architecture being a top priority. Our interviewees are focused on helping banks achieve this transition within the next year, while also exploring deeper functionalities and value additions in various banking segments.

We also get some thoughts on the event itself. The Temenos Community Forum offers an invaluable platform for Systems Limited to engage with Temenos, clients, and partners, fostering a robust ecosystem. The forum facilitates discussions on future banking trends, particularly around AI, Gen AI, intelligent process automation, and data leveraging.
