Seamless Security Could Be Achieved with SPC

We spoke to Nakjo Shishkov from Netcetera at MPE to find out more about Secure Payment Confirmation (SPC) technology. Authentication is an essential part of payments security and this tech could hold the key (pardon the pun) to keeping customers secure and increasing conversion rates.

In this insightful video, Shishkov provides a comprehensive overview of SPC, delving into how it works, some background info, and its potential advantages for both merchants and consumers. Central to his discussion is the intricate relationship between technological advancements and the regulatory frameworks governing digital transactions, with a particular emphasis on initiatives such as 3-D Secure (3DS). This is part of PSD2 which is a broader set of regulations that introduced Strong Customer Authentication and more. 3DS simply means there are 3 domains involved in the authentication process; Card, Merchant and Infrastructure.

Initiatives like 3DS have been pivotal in bolstering the security of online transactions, aiming to authenticate the identities of both merchants and consumers during payment processes. Similarly, the W3C, as the main international standards organization for the World Wide Web, plays a crucial role in establishing protocols that ensure interoperability and security across various online platforms. SPC falls within all of this and ensures customers are kept safe. It’s been found that Multi Factor Authentication makes people feel more secure when using financial services.

However, amidst the imperative for stringent security measures, the user experience is still an important consideration. While robust authentication mechanisms are indispensable in combating fraud and ensuring data integrity, we can’t forget the customer experience. Balancing security with convenience is therefore a delicate endeavor, requiring innovative solutions that fortify defenses without impeding transactional efficiency.

This is where SPC comes in. By streamlining authentication processes and optimizing the user journey, SPC addresses the dual imperatives of security and customer experience. Shishkov takes us through this dual benefit in the video above.

All of this has profound implications for both merchants and consumers. For businesses, the adoption of SPC translates into heightened trust and credibility, as customers are assured of robust safeguards against fraudulent activities. Simultaneously, consumers benefit from a frictionless payment experience, and as a result the conversion rate increases.
