How Ugnė Buraciene Has Led payabl. to the Big Leagues | FF News at MPE 2024
In another interview for MPE in Berlin, we spoke to Ugnė Buraciene, Group CEO of payabl. to get her thoughts on the conference and certain fintech and payments trends. She was also one of the speakers so it was great to find out what she’s interested in talking about.
Ugnė is also a member of the European Women Payments Network (EWPN) a body that is aiming to give a voice to women in the industry. It’s appropriate then that one of the things we spoke about was her involvement in a fireside chat on Diversity and Inclusion, with a focus on how more women can get involved in fintech and ensuring their voices are heard.
She says there are multiple factors to the issue with different potential solutions involved. A lot of it starts with early education. It’s clear that there needs to be more conversations around this topic and you can see from this interview that it’s something she is passionate about. We also spoke to ugnė last year in Cyprus where they were a principal partner of the Reflect Festival. You can watch that here. In it she told us more about her career history so far and gave us some more in depth thoughts on the fintech landscape.
There are many other links and degrees of separation from this interview too, as she is originally from Lithuania, a country which we’ve covered in a previous edition of the Pay It Forward podcast and has a wealth of fintech potential.
With 15 years of experience in complex banking and payments ecosystems she’s perfectly placed to discuss current trends like fraud, digital transformation and is very much looking forward to seeing more practical applications of AI. She also has been instrumental in directing payabl., a leading payments service provider and PayTech to holding a leading position internationally. It was announced last year that they secured an EMI license in the UK and they have plans for international expansion.
This is a great and easily digestible chat with someone at the top of their game and in it she reveals what businesses need to be thinking about in the year ahead. The threat of fraud is always there and it’s important that serious financial businesses prepare their systems in advance.
Be sure to watch the video above for her full insights and catch the rest of our MPE coverage here.
