At Insurtech Insights 2024, Samuel Falmagne from Akur8 talked about what the company is focusing on now and what’s ahead.

Falmagne kicked things off by stressing how dedicated the company is to research and development. Akur8 is pouring a lot of resources into enhancing its products, especially in pricing. They’re rolling out new tools, like a module to improve pricing and another to help get these models up and running more easily. He also teased that there are more modules on the way in the next few years.

On the reserving side, de Linares mentioned that Akur8 is working to add more machine learning features to its solutions, aiming to provide even more benefits for clients. Both talked about how over half of their team consists of engineers and PhDs, which shows how much they prioritize technical skill.

Falmagne added that a good chunk of their funding is set aside for creating tools that tackle the real issues insurance companies face. He pointed out that this focus on tech and product development defines who Akur8 is.

The other major area they’re looking at is international growth. From the start, Akur8 wanted to make its mark in the global actuarial software scene. They’re already helping clients in over 40 countries and plan to keep expanding into new markets. De Linares said this global presence is crucial for supporting insurers everywhere they work and staying ahead in the industry.
