Payments in practice – Can one travel around the world only using one form of payment? Fintech Finance Presents ‘The Payment Race: Around the World”
The world of payments is about to become a playfield as Fintech Finance announces the “Around the World Payments Race”. The gamified travel experience will see 5 intrepid adventurers, set out across the globe to complete a 24,900-mile trip around the world, using nothing but a single method of payment.
The Around the World Payments Race comes fresh off the back of the successfully received previous payments races in the US, in Asia and in Europe in 2017 and 2018. It will start in London on 23rd May and finish at Money 20/20 in Amsterdam on 3rd June.
The bold racers will only be allowed to use the one payment method that has been attributed to them to buy everything during the race, from transportation and accommodation to their food and drinks. Previous payments races included forms of payment such as cheques, mobile wallet, bitcoin, gold, chip and pin card, apple watch, coins.
Fintech Finance will assemble its racers in London on 23rd May and pack them off with nothing more than their payment method and a video camera to record their adventures across the world before finishing two weeks later in Amsterdam on 3rd June. Between the racers witty humour and the tricky challenges, we expect banter, hunger, overjoy and drama all the way.
Race organiser, Ali Paterson, Editor in Chief of Fintech Finance, said “It’s time to up the game and see the global nature of payments, it is a brilliant and fun opportunity to show not only the limitations of different payment method but also the cultural differences around the world.” says Ali. “When it comes to everyday transactions consumers should have a choice – and that choice should not be dictated by the seller.”
