UnionPay International (“UPI”) is a wholly owned subsidiary of China UnionPay, established in Nov 2012. UPI is a bankcard association established under the approval of the State Council and the People’s Bank of China, and has become a central and pivotal part of China’s bankcard industry. In partnership with more than 2000 institutions worldwide, UPI has enabled card acceptance in 174 countries and regions with issuance in 55 countries and regions. UPI’s innovations enable its bank customers to offer consumers choices: pay now with debit, ahead of time with prepaid or later with credit products.
