About Tanuj Kapilashrami
I joined Standard Chartered in March 2017 as Group Head, Talent, Learning and Culture and took on additional responsibility as Global Head HR, Corporate, Commercial and Institutional Banking in May 2018. In November 2018 I joined the Management Team as Chief Human Resources Officer.
At Standard Chartered, we believe that every one of our colleagues plays a tangible role in delivering our purpose – “Driving commerce and prosperity through our unique diversity.” We have always sought continuously to improve, to challenge ourselves and to drive change within the industry, the world we live in, and with ourselves to live up to our brand promise – to be Here for good. The success of the Bank and the achievement of our business strategy hinges on the way we invest in, manage and organise our people, the employee experience we create and the culture we build.
Prior to joining the Bank, I built my career at HSBC, where I worked for 17 years across multiple HR disciplines in many of our footprint markets – Hong Kong, Singapore, Dubai, India and London. In my last role I was a Group General Manager and Head of HR for EMEA, Global IT & Operations and the International Management Programme.
I am currently a Non-Executive Director at Sainsbury’s PLC and a member of their Nomination and Remuneration Committees. I am also a board member of the UK Financial Services Skills Commission and Asia House, which is a London-based centre of expertise on trade, investment and public policy whose mission is to drive engagement between Asia and Europe.
