About Ruben Salazar
Ruben Salazar Genovez is the Global Head of Visa Direct, he is responsible for expanding Visa’s global money movement capabilities beyond the card through different applications and use-cases for Visa Direct, including P2P, domestic and cross-border payouts, payments to SMBs and government disbursements.
Visa Direct is Visa’s real-time push payment platform that leverages Visa’s global payment network to facilitate fast, simple, and secure digital payments worldwide. In addition, Ruben is responsible for leading Yellowpepper and Visa Payments Limited (Formerly Earthport) both acquired companies are part of Visa’s portfolio of solutions to facilitate money movement around the world.
Recently, Ruben was Senior Vice President of Products, Processing & Innovation for Visa Latin America & the Caribbean, where he headed Visa’s portfolio of Core Products, Digital Platforms, and the Innovation centers in the region. With over 20 years of experience in financial services, he led the transformation of the way Visa designed and deployed payments innovation in the LAC region.
Previously, Ruben was responsible for the integration of new digital capabilities with core payments platforms at Visa Asia Pacific (Singapore) as the Head of Product Design & Development, he was leading the delivery of a pipeline of product enhancements, go-to-market plans, segment solutions and consumer experiences to support issuers and partners in securing revenue growth.
Ruben began his career at Citigroup, Latin America, where for almost 10 years he worked on assignments spanning Card Business Management, Business Development for the Diners Club Franchise, Partnership and Alliances, Cobrands, Marketing and General Management.
He also spent three years at Barclays – Barclaycard Iberia, where he was instrumental in managing the business development, leading M&A initiatives and reshaping the card business during the downturn of the Western Europe economy. For several years, he was also responsible for the Consumer Credit Products in Asia Pacific Middle East & Africa for Mastercard Worldwide.
Mr. Salazar has served on the Board of Directors of (UNA-USA) Young Professionals for International Cooperation, Miami Fl USA and at the Board of Directors of ServiRed – Sociedad Española de Medios de Pago, S.A, Novopayment Inc. and Yellowpepper. He currently serves as Advisory Board Member of FIU Chapman Graduate School of Business.
