About Roger Newman

Roger has over 30 years of IT experience starting with the implementation of retail systems in UK retailers such as Sainsbury’s and Waitrose. His career then moved to Namibia and South Africa with mining giant Anglo American. After 4 years in the mining sector Roger returned to the UK as an independent Consultant working for another Retailer, Woolworths before joining Reuters in the Media Sector. From 1987 to 2001 Roger worked in a variety of IT roles for Reuters spending 5 years in Paris and another 5 years in Geneva. For the last 4 years at Reuters Roger held the post of Applications Director and managed the development, implementation and support of Reuter’s business systems. This involved managing teams in Singapore, Geneva, Paris, New York and London. Roger has been with Satyam since 2001 originally joining as Operations Director for the fledgling Satyam business in Europe. Since then the European business has grown from 3% of Satyam’s total revenue to just over 21% now. Roger holds a degree in Business Economics and an MBA and PhD from Warwick University.
