Paul Rippon is best known for being one of the founding members of Monzo, one of the biggest fintechs in the UK which was valued at nearly £4 billion at its most recent funding round.
He set the business up in 2015 with serial entrepreneur Tom Blomfield, who had already established himself as a major player in the fintech industry after setting up payments company GoCardless and joining Anne Boden to help grow challenger bank Starling.
But despite rapid success, in the end Rippon decided the world of fintech was not for him. In 2020 He quit to set up his own Alpaca farm in Northumberland with his wife Debbie. Together the pair are now the proud owners of over 300 alpacas, using their fleeces to make knitwear which they sell in their own shop. Monzo cards are accepted.
