About Orlando B Vea

Mr. Orlando B. Vea is one of the country’s most successful digital entrepreneurs. He cofounded Smart with Dave Fernando in 1991 and he served as its President and CEO until 2000. During that time, Smart was acquired by First Pacific. He led Smart during its period as a startup until it became the market leader in the mobile telecommunications industry. Orlando B. Vea moved to found various companies, among them, is CIGNAL, now the leading direct to home digital cable channel. Orlando B. Vea went on to head the PLDT Group’s media and content business as President and CEO of MediaQuest Holdings, Inc., a wholly-owned subsidiary of the PLDT Beneficial Trust Fund, responsible for the Group’s thrust into Mobile TV, Direct to Home TV and its initiatives toward other major mass media and new media platforms. He then returned to Smart as its Chief Wireless Advisor in 2008. Three years ago, in January 2013, Mr. Orlando B. Vea led the formation of Voyager Innovations, the digital innovations unit of PLDT and Smart where he serves as President and CEO. Voyager Innovations together with its various spin-out businesses including FINTQnologies, Takatack Technologies, and PayMaya Philippines now form the Voyager Group which is the leading the way for digital innovations for emerging markets.
