About Mitch Trehan

https://www.allica.bank/
Mitch Trehan is the Chief Compliance Officer at Allica Bank, and a regular public speaker. He started his career in the RAF, training as a Pilot, before moving into financial services and has 22 years’ experience in Corporate Banking and FinTech, having held senior positions at Citi, Barclays, JP Morgan, Ebury, Banking Circle and now Allica Bank. Mitch Trehan is the Chair of the “Interbank Payment Policy Committee” for UK Finance; on the Advisory Board of the Payments Association and the Mentor for their Financial Crime working group; and is on the Executive Committee for the Association of Foreign Exchange & Payments Companies. Mitch Trehan has been listed as “One to Watch” by Money 20/20 and holds English, Scottish and Northern Irish Law degrees, plus a Professional Postgraduate Diploma in Governance Risk and Compliance, and a Fellow of the International Compliance Association. Once upon a time there was a young kid born and raised in Northern Ireland, who liked to take things apart and put them back together. Mitch Trehan didn’t go out much – pretty standard for a traditional Indian family back in the 80s and 90s. He was at home trying to fix things that seemed to be broken. Video players, cassette recorders, cameras, a Sega megadrive – anything (when his Mum wasn’t looking) – he just liked to fix things and figure out how they worked. One day his baby cousin (who is not a baby anymore!) stopped her mum from throwing away a pair of tights, because she believed he was going to fix them. (That one he couldn’t do; in case you are interested). Fast forward a few years and that kid went to Uni to study Law (English, Scottish and Northern Irish Law degrees), out of respect to his grandfather (who also studied law… and being completely honest, because he watched too much LA Law… everyone was young, beautiful and rich, he thought he could do that too…). Mitch Trehan also joined the RAF, training as a Pilot (which didn’t work out due to injury) before finally moving into financial services in 2003. All in all, Mitch Trehan is still going around learning how things work, and trying to make things better. Fixing what he can, and helping anyone he can along the way. (“Striving to put right what once went wrong…” 😊) The RAF is all about defence. So, is compliance. For both the company and for society at large. Mitch Trehan still does what he can to defend and protect those around him. Funny how childhood traits always continue to come through!
