About Md Farid Kairi

Md Farid Kairi, Deputy CEO, Group Global Banking & Managing Director, Global Markets. Graduated with BSc in Actuarial Science from Nanyang Technological University, Singapore. Md Farid Kairi has more than 25 years of experience in banking industry and has extensive knowledge in designing and driving an integrated holistic working capital solution (Trade-Cash-FX) focusing on trade financing, payment, collection, investment advisory and hedging. Md Farid Kairi joined Maybank in 2009 and transformed Maybank Global Markets franchise business and has since taken a few different roles before appointed as Managing Director of Global Markets &Transaction Banking in 2017. In December 2022, Farid was appointed as Deputy CEO, Group Global Banking on top of his existing role as Managing Director, Global Markets. He will still hold his role as deputy head of global markets and his appointment is part of a restructuring of their transaction banking team. He replaces John Wong, who will assume a more strategic role in the bank, it has been reported. Maybank’s transaction banking and treasury services will become more aligned as part of the restructure, with Kairi playing a key role in both. Farid Kairi holds a 2022 - 2022 Harvard Business School.
