About Matthew Leibowitz

Matthew Leibowitz is the CEO and Founder of Stake, a purely digital brokerage offering commission-free trading of US Stocks and ETFs, the first of its kind in Australia. Through Stake's global expansion, Matthew Leibowitz is empowering people around the world trade up to the biggest and most dynamic market on the planet with high simplicity and low cost. Originally trained as a lawyer, made his way into the markets at a high frequency trading firm Optiver, where he was a trader and a senior partner. He ran Index Trading for Optiver in their US office and ran both their equities and the Institutional Trading desks in Sydney. In 2017, Matt founded Stake so those looking trade up to the world's biggest and most dynamic markets could do so as simply as the big end of town. Matt Leibowitz has been a partner with Plaza Ventures since April 2012. He is a seasoned early stage institutional tech investor having originated, managed and completed dozens of transactions. He has arranged significant private placement financings for private equity and technology investments. He is a frequent public speaker on tech, PE, VC and clean-tech.
