About Marlene Garayzar

Marlene Garayzar ( Mexico City ; April 2, 1981) is an internationalist woman with a Master's degree in Administration, businesswoman and co-founder of Stori, the ninth Mexican company to become a unicorn in July 2022 and the first unicorn company to be founded by a woman in Mexico. In 2023, Marlene was named one of the 100 most powerful women in business in Mexico by Expansión Magazine. Marlene​ graduated in International Relations from the Tecnológico de Monterrey and studied her Master's​ in Administration at the Instituto Tecnológico Autónomo de México (ITAM). Marlene has more than 17 years of experience in the financial sector, both in Mexico and internationally. Her experience is mainly based on operations, customer service, compliance, risk and collections in financial institutions. Her career in the financial world began at Peugeot Finance, where she held the position of Risk Manager. Subsequently, her experience led Marlene to hold positions within other companies such as Debts Collections Leader at GE Capital and Head of Operations at Creamfinance and 4Finance. In 2020, together with Masters in Administration Bin Chen and Sherman He, Computer Science expert Nick Chen and Ph.D. GY Liu, Marlene Garayzar co-founded Stori, a Mexican company whose mission is to promote financial inclusion in Mexico, granting credit cards under the regime of Sociedad Financiera de Objeto Múltiple ( Sofom ). Marlene currently serves as Chief Governance Officer (CGO) at Stori. As of today, the company has 2 million cards issued and the unicorn status​ that it acquired in July 2022.
