Mark Catton is the CEO of Propel Finance Plc., with board-level financial services experience across corporate, commercial, and personal banking, and as a stand-alone lender. He recently transitioned from big institution divisional leadership to a challenger lender environment.
With 30 years in financial services, most of that time in corporate and SME lending, the last 20 or so years have been at the Executive level with enterprise-wide responsibility for leading significant customer businesses, serving and supporting UK companies of all shapes and sizes.
He spent 8 years at RBS, most of that time as CEO of its UK Corporate Bank, responsible for fixing and rebuilding the business, reporting to the Group Executive Committee. He was CF29 Approved at the time.
Mark Catton was a Non-Executive Director of Direct Line Group Plc (2012-2014), representing one of the RBS nominated Board positions. He chaired the RBS UK Retail Divisional Risk and Audit Committee (2012-2014) reporting to the Group Audit Committee and Board Risk Committee. He was CF2 Approved at the time.
Mark Catton spent 7 years at Barclays, responsible for a number of its customer franchises and product businesses. Before Barclays, he was at NatWest for 15 years.
His passion lies in building and leading businesses, with outstanding teams of people. He is fortunate to have collected general management and enterprise-level experiences over an extended period.
Mark also served as CEO of Oracle Finance, a regulated credit broker specializing in financing luxury cars. Before that, they were the CEO of RBS Corporate for the UK, responsible for serving and supporting a significant portion of the UK's large and mid corporates across various sectors.
Mark Catton completed an Executive Leadership Program in association with Harvard, Wharton, and Insead from 2007 to 2013. Before that, they attended the London Business School Corporate Finance Program in 2005. In 2003, Mark participated in the YSC Leadership Development program sponsored by Barclays Exec Talent. Additionally, they completed a Corporate Treasury Management (AMCT) program in 1997 and became an Associate of the Chartered Institute of Bankers (ACIB) in 1991.
