About Joseph Perschy

With more than 25 years of experience in the surety industry (a quarter century!), I have had unique exposure to most facets of this complex and challenging business. This includes not only the underwriting and marketing of all types of surety bonds for commercial and construction companies, but the management of this business as well. Even more critical, though, is my understanding of what makes a surety company tick. My experience includes such non-underwriting tasks as systems design and implementation, workflow policies & procedures, management of work outsourcing, budgeting & planning assistance, data management and reporting, regulatory matters & filings, compliance & licensing, overdue premium management, audits (internal and external/SOX), reinsurance renewal process management, broker contract and remuneration management, industry liaison work, forms management, vendor management, disaster/continuity planning, project management, and staff training & development. You name it...if it's surety-related I've probably been involved to some degree.
I have enjoyed various roles throughout my career, including being involved in the development and implementation of a transactional surety system from day one. This is when my interest in the “behind-the-scenes” aspects of surety really began to manifest itself. Some people like doing deals; I prefer setting up the proper environment to allow people to do more deals in a better and faster way. Think of me as the man behind the curtain making sure everything visible to the marketplace and customers is working the way it should! Naturally, my current focus and interest is in the operations area of the surety business, and I have a passion for finding ways to increase profitability and efficiency through technology, business processes and workflow, with the ultimate goal of improving the manner in which businesses write surety bonds.
