About John Keppel

John Keppel became Zurich’s Chief Sustainability Officer in July 2022, assuming responsibility for leading Zurich UK’s response to the wider Zurich Group’s ambition to become one of the most responsible and impactful companies in the world. John Keppel is responsible for leading regulatory and legal requirements in terms of sustainability and ensuring we deliver on our Net Zero commitments as a business whilst acting as a visible catalyst for change in our sector. In addition, John Keppel is also responsible for the Engineering Business P&L and the Customer Office, which incorporates marketing, customer sentiment monitoring and complaints handling. He is also a keen sponsor of Zurich UK’s Pride Employee Resource Group. John Keppel previously held the role of UK Chief Operating Officer, where he was responsible for the company’s daily business operations, transformation project and expense delivery, leading key initiatives, and implementing company-wide strategies across all our locations in the UK. John Keppel joined Zurich in July 2017, from Information Services Group (ISG) plc, where he was President EMEA and Asia and a member of the Board. He also held executive roles at Accenture and Capgemini prior to joining Zurich. John Keppel is a New Zealand national, who resides in the UK. He was educated in both New Zealand and the United Kingdom and holds a Bachelor of Science Honours Degree from Loughborough University of Technology. John Keppel lives in Wiltshire and is married with two daughters. C-Suite (CSO) Sustainability and ESG in a FS regulated environment. Sustainability strategy development and articulation including ESG disclosure and Climate Risk Management oversight. C-Suite (COO) experience in large scale change including organisational, business model, M&A, technology and digital transformation. Financial crime, cyber, 3rd party outsourcing oversight and deal experience. In addition to his client facing sales and delivery experience, John Keppel has held executive roles across ISG in a number of areas including data, analytics, research, managed services and marketing. He was previously the head of the Insurance Practice at ISG. He has also held executive positions at Accenture and Capgemini.
